“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” Those words echo in every believer’s mind, illuminating a promise and a challenge. The closer we move toward God, the more He reveals Himself to us. The book of Jeremiah tells us, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). Begin this journey by inviting God into every corner of your life, not just the neatly tucked away corners reserved for Sunday services. Our relationship with God is not confined to the walls of a church; it breathes, thrives, and grows in the daily, sometimes messy, living of our lives. We often relegate God to the ‘spiritual’ aspects and forget that He wants to be involved in every detail. Our joys, sorrows, triumphs, and failures – all of it. Invite God into your mundane, your ordinary, your routine. You’ll soon discover there’s nothing ordinary about life with Him. The seeking of God outside the church, in the quotidian moments of life, is crucial to deepening our relationship with Jesus. The Christ who walked on dusty roads, ate with sinners, and embraced the marginalized invites us to seek Him in the ordinariness of our daily living.

Be open to hearing God in new ways. While the Scriptures are a profound source of divine truth, God often speaks through the quiet whispers in our hearts, the beauty of nature, the words of a friend, or the stirring of our souls. Being attuned to God’s voice in our everyday lives invites a depth of relationship we might not have experienced otherwise.

Lastly, accept the divine invitation to sit, listen, and be still. The noise of the world often drowns out the tranquility needed to hear God’s voice. Amid our busy lives, we must find moments of quiet, moments of stillness, moments when we can listen to the stirrings of the Divine and deepen our understanding and relationship with Him.
